Simple single-serving nut milk recipe

IMG_6778_jpg.JPG

Can you believe that it’s 2021 and I’ve never attempted to make almond milk at home

Yeah, I know…WILD.

But today’s the day I finally tried it and needless to say… I was STUNNED. It took me less than 5 minutes…how and why have I waited this long? A question I’ll be asking myself for a while.

TOOLS

  • nutribullet (I’ve linked the one my husband and I use) or any highspeed blender

  • mesh strainer (I used a stainless steel tea infuser and it worked great!)

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 TBSP almonds

  • 1 large pitted date

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 8 oz water

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place all ingredients in your blender

  2. Blend until you reach a thick and creamy consistency (on the nutribullet it took about 1 minute, but give it breaks so you don’t burn out the motor)

  3. Strain the mixture

  4. Refrigerate or use it right away

SUSTAINABILITY TIPS

  • I was able to find the almonds and dates in bulk at my local zero-waste grocery store.

  • You can use the leftover almond pulp in your oatmeal or a smoothie for additional protein
